EM703 - Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering (Mixed mode)

    Introduction

    EM703 is a mixed mode programme, whereby the assessment depends upon both the coursework and dissertation (research work). The programme provides outgoing bachelor students opportunity for specialization in various fields at master level. It also provides a greater opportunity for engineers to enhance their knowledge for career advancement. The programme is a mixed mode programme which combines both taught course and research (17 credits of taught courses and 27 hours of supervised master research project). EM703 program aims to foster practitioners with the innovative, futuristic and ethical attributes in Mechanical Engineering specialize courses and research in support of the national aspiration.

    Programme Objectives

    The Master of Mechanical Engineering programme aims to produce graduates who are:

    1. An engineer, highly skilled in R&D related activities.
    2. An engineer qualified with good values, ethics and morals.
    3. An engineer equipped with entrepreneurial and leadership skills.

    Duration

    Full-time: 3 to 6 semesters

    Classes will be conducted at night or on weekends to accommodate employed students.

    Courses Offered

    The programme is a mixed mode, which consists of 17 credits of taught courses and 27 hours of supervised master research project.

    The taught courses split into four core courses and two electives. The core courses are:

    4. Project Management

    Students can select two electives based on their preferences from the offered courses, which cover six area of specialization, i.e.

    The research project will be supervised by lecturers who are expert in their respective field and are actively involved in doing research.

    Note: All courses are three credit hours. Selected courses will be offered, subject to minimum numbers of students registering for the scheduled courses.

    Entry Requirements

    1. A bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering with minimum CGPA of 2.75 out of 4 (or equivalent, e.g. Electrical, Chemical, Civil, Industrial, Aerospace and Automotive Engineering, Applied Science and Computer Science) from UiTM or any other institution of higher learning recognized by UiTM; or

    2. A lower CGPA with working experience in the relevant field; or

    3. Enrolment via APEL C Certificate will also be consider.
